Déjà Vu Pedestal

In the work, Déjà vu pedestal, the viewer comes across a three feet high black cuboidal pedestal with a peephole which seems to be leaking a faint light. As one looks inside they are faced with distorted reflections and glass like innards of the pedestal and a screen displaying an image of the top-down view of the pedestal. It looks like a previous recording of the pedestal as no one seems to be standing at the pedestal but in approximately five seconds the viewer sees themselves approach the pedestal and chronologically perform the same action and look inside. Encountering this inconsistent but familiar top view of themselves usually leads to an immediate response to find the camera and reacting to their own movement only to go back to it. This allows the viewer to see their reflection from an angle that they are not used to seeing themselves making the viewer aware of their movement in space.
